  • Why do you think it’s so hard for Diego to control his temper? Do you think he might ever lose it enough to hit Eddie like he fears he might do?
  • What do you think is the connection between Diego's nightmare about the shark and Mac? How does the nightmare relate to the title of the story?

Chapter 6-
  • What does Diego's speaking up in court symbolize?
  • Why do you think Vidas was so angry about Diego's request for probation?
  • Do you think Diego showed his cuts to Vidas to manipulate him?

Chapter 7-
  • Why do you think Diego feels so excited to be on probation? Compare this to the way he feels when Ariel spots his cuts.

Chapter 8-
  • What does Diego taking the candy from Vidas during his 2nd appointment, but not his 1st symbolize?
  • Why is it that when Diego shows his scars to his mother all she says is "you had such beautiful skin"? What does this say about her?
  • Why was Diego surprised when his mother showed deep emotions about his cuts?
  • Why did Diego's mother say it was so hard to raise him when all she did was provide for him and his brother financially?

  1. Chapter 8, question 1-
I think that taking the candy the 2nd time is showing Mr.Vidas that Diego is ready to talk ad that he is trying to open up to him. But not taking it the 1st time is just him but frustrated that he has probation, but after telling him his case Diego wants probation to open up to Vidas.

  2. Chapter 6, Question 3

I don't think Diego was trying to manipulate Vidas when he showed him his cuts. Reason be because he never wanted to show them to him it was just he forgot about them and made a movement that led to their exposure. But in retrospect he could have lifted his arm involuntarily, maybe something inside him wanted to show Vidas his cuts.

  3. chapter 6 question 1
I think Deigo speaking up to himself, symbolizes that he actally wants to take the first step in dealing with his anger issues. Because he realizes he has a problem and speaks up to fight for what he belives can help in threw his difficult situation.

  5. Chapter 7

He Is Excited Because Now He Has Someone He Can Talk To , Someone Who Understands Him , Someone Who Knows Him. And It's A Lot Different From How He Felt With Ariel Because He Didn't Want To Open Up To Her.

  6. Chapter 7

He is excited because he can finally talk to Mr.Vidas about his stuff going on. He understands him and is a good listener. Its different from Ariel because he bearly knows her and he's afraid of her reaction-Brenda Salgado

  7. Chapter 8- Why was Diego surprised when his mother showed deep emotions about his cuts?
i think he was surprised because he thought his mother never cared for him or cared about what he did. he thought she should have already known about it since he always wore long sleeves.

Ch-8 Why is it that when Diego shows his scars to his mother all she says is "you had such beautiful skin"? What does this say about her?

I think that Diego’s mother saying that “you had such beautiful skin" shows that all she cares about is looks. It also shows that she does not care about her son and what he is feeling inside. It also tome shows that she does not have a understanding of what is going on in Diego’s life.

  9. Question3) What do you think is the connection between Diego's nightmare about the shark and Mac? How does the nightmare relate to the title of the story?

I don't think that the shark had anything to do with mac. I think the shark was him because the anger he has is the shark and hes the bait and the anger is eating him away little by little.

  11. chapter 8 question 3
I think Diego was surprised about his mothers reaction, was because he though she would know already. Like he was thinking that she must have not really cared if she noticed all this time. But then he finds out that she never noticed which made Diego even more upset.
